Coco Lennon, leaning against a silver wall, watches a brown haired beauty dance to the club's own vibe, moving on the fringes of the crowd. The girl looks up for a moment, catching Coco's eyes, smiles brilliantly, and lowers her head again to a suddenly faster beat. Coco watches as the girl shakes her chin-length hair, catches glimpses of her face, and the contour of her neck. It occurs to Coco that the girl reminds her of someone. She becomes fascinated with the pretty girl, doesn't take her eyes off her; and she finally realizes who the girl reminds her of: Greta Garbo. The music suddenly stops to a collective "nnnooo" from the crowd. "Uhhh, sorry," a voice comes over the speakers. "Sorry 'bout that, guys... I'll get it going again innasec... dunno what happened..." "Jaaaade, make it work!" someone yells. "I *will,*" says the voice. "Hush." The crowd begins wandering to the paper-covered walls, to the photo booths, the vending machines, and the giant notebooks. Coco catches the girl's eye again and waves to her; the girl waves back and swirls over to Coco. "Hi!" The girl smiles brilliantly and pushes the hair out of her eyes. "I'm Katie." Coco smiles. "My name's Coco." "Coco? Coool... have you been here before?" Coco shakes her head, and is interupted by the voice from the speakers-- "Theeeere, it's working again. This is a song Lex wrote for me a while back. It's perfect for dancing with your newfound love. Enjoy." There is a click, and the music starts; slow, loud, a distorted voice singing quietly and slowly in convoluted lyrics that Culture Club would be proud of. "Lex is Jade's girlfriend," Katie says. "Jade is the owner of this place. Jade Scully. That was her." She listens to the music for a moment and nods. "And that's Lex singing. They haven't played this before. Wanna dance?" Coco, slightly surprised by the question but not at all adverse to it, allows herself to be led to the dance floor. She and Katie dance this song, slowly but not too closely, as it's still a somewhat wild beat. As the song ends, another voice comes over the speakers. "This next one is for couples dancing close, cos I wanna dance with Jade. Couples only, eh?" Katie stops dancing, but keeps hold of Coco's hands, and grins. "That's Lex." Coco nods, smiles as the new song starts, and pulls Katie back when she starts to leave the dance floor. "Where're you going?" "She said couples only." Katie looks at Coco, who is silent. "Ohh." She grins. "Are you trying to seduce me?" Coco moves closer, drapes her hands around Katie's waist and rests her head on her shoulder, begins to dance. "Yes," she whispers in her ear. Katie forces herself to breathe calmly as she snakes her hands through Coco's hair and around her waist. They dance very closely, to the music, to the house vibe, aware of the moments only as they happen. ------ Coco and Katie spend the evening dancing and talking, and eventually people start filtering out of the club. Katie giggles, staggering back to the wall, followed by Coco. "Hehehe... umm, umm... wonder what time it is..." Coco fishes a pocket watch out of her purse and peers at it. "Two." Katie slides down the wall and sits on the floor. She looks around at the few people left and notices Jade and Lex dancing. "They'll be closing soon..." Coco sinks to her knees beside Katie, takes her chin in her hand, and kisses her gently on the mouth. "Where will you go?" Katie looks at her through thick lashes. "With you?" Coco smiles, kisses Katie again, stands and helps Katie up. "Wait a sec... I wanna say bye to Jade and Lex..." Coco watches Katie zigzag toward the dance floor. She watches her wait for Jade and Lex to stop dancing, watches her talk to them for a minute or so. They both look at Coco, smile brightly, and wave. Coco waves back. Jade hugs Katie, and then Katie comes zigzagging back to Coco. "Jade said hi. Lex told me to tell you to treat me kindly..." Katie grins. Coco laughs and puts an arm around Katie's waist as they walk out. ------
